David Neilson will join Brooks Macdonald co-founder Jon Gumpel at Aubrey Capital Management as an investment manager in its private client team.
Neilson (pictured) joins Aubrey from Cornelian Asset Managers where he worked as an investment manager for a diverse range of private clients, trusts, companies, pensions and charitable portfolios, as well as external IFAs to secure discretionary and agency business.
Neilson has previously held roles at Russell Investments and Turcan Connell Asset Management where he assisted in the management of a wide range of client portfolios.
Neilson follows in the steps of Aubrey investment director, Gumpel who joined the Edinburgh boutique in July last year having spent 28 years at Brooks Macdonald which he co-founded with three others in 1991.
Cornelian was acquired by Brooks Macdonald in February 2020 in a deal worth £39m.
Gumpel said that Aubrey has been developing its range of investment products for the intermediary sector and that Neilson’s “experience and skillsets in multi-asset portfolio services should be a strong addition to the team”.
Aubrey was founded in 2006 and has three funds, the $392m (£278m) Global Emerging Markets Opportunities fund, the €41m (£35m) European Conviction fund and the £76m Global Conviction fund.
