MacPherson (pictured) has joined the firm’s investor relations team working with UK country head Jane Russell to build relationships with discretionary wealth managers, private banks and multi-managers.

He previously worked at Aberdeen Standard Investments where he spent almost nine years as an investment director responsible for London intermediary sales.

Comgest has spent the past decade predominantly managing institutional money and UK clients represent about 7% (£1.8bn) of its assets under management.

The firm is now making its equity funds more available to the UK wholesale market. In recent years it has added sterling-denominated share classes across its Comgest Growth Irish Ucits fund range.

Comgest has also become a member of the Investment Association and has registered funds on major UK platforms, including AJ Bell, Pershing, Allfunds, Raymond James and James Hay.

Arnaud Cosserat, chief executive of Comgest, said: “Comgest has always taken a long-term view. Establishing a local presence in the UK market, despite Brexit, reflects our enduring commitment to servicing our British investors.

“Comgest is delighted to welcome Iain on board. His depth of experience within the UK wholesale market is a great addition to the team and his partnership approach to relationships with investors reflects very much the values of our firm.”

MacPherson said: “I’m very excited to join Comgest, an outstanding partnership with a solid long-term performance track record across its fund range. The firm has a rare level of consistency in its style, process and people that I believe the UK wholesale market will particularly value.”
