Parry will report to Mike Turner, head of global strategy & asset allocation at Aberdeen and his appointment takes the multi-asset team to nine-strong.
His responsibilities will include assisting in the management of the recently launched Aberdeen Diversified Growth Fund.
Prior to joining Aberdeen he was MD and head of fixed income at Close Asset Management and before that head of inflation bonds at Schroders.
He also held a role as head of UK fixed income at PIMCO Europe earlier in his career.
Mike Turner, head of global strategy and asset allocation at Aberdeen, said: "Events of the past few years have highlighted the benefits of employing a multi-asset approach encompassing both strategic and tactical asset allocation decisions to shelter from and take advantage of market volatility.
"Aberdeen believes investor appetite for multi-asset solutions, including diversified growth, will increase and Mark’s appointment is aimed at strengthening the team further."
Given his wealth of experience in the fixed income space, a spokesperson for Aberdeen said it could certainly be seen as a bolster to the team’s fixed income expertise.
But he added that Mike Turner was previously head of global fixed interest at Edinburgh Fund Managers, which Aberdeen took over in 2003.
"You tend to find people within multi-asset have previously had fixed income experience because typically in both roles you are focused more on the top down point of view," he concluded.
The multi-asset team has around £6bn assets under management and its flagship fund – the £550m Aberdeen Multi-Asset Fund – is ranked top quartile over one, three and five years (as at 31 October).
