Close Brothers Asset Management has recruited Investec Wealth’s Peter Horton as its senior investment director and head of its newly founded Cheltenham office.
Before the move, Horton had spent the past 17 years at Investec Wealth starting in 2006, working as its divisional director. He is also a trustee for the Baron Davenport’s Charity in Birmingham. In his role as senior investment director, he will focus on bespoke investment services and the portfolios of high net worth clients.
Giles Marshall, head of bespoke at Close Brothers, said: “Peter’s appointment will contribute to the expansion of our growing bespoke business, and the continual development of our extensive regional footprint across the UK. We’re very pleased to welcome Peter to CBAM, and look forward to working together in the years ahead.”
Close Brothers opened its Cheltenham office in September, which operates with investment directors including Ed Mawle, Charles Lawson, Charlotte Selby-Rickards, and Charlie Purves. Marshall said the office is key in giving a personal and local connection for clients with the business.
Close Brothers has been in operation for over 140 years and is part of the FTSE 250. As of September, the company managed £17.3bn in assets but suffered a loss in operating profit over the past year, from £234.8m to £113.5m.
