The team will be led by newly hired head of research Robert Alster, who joined from Alliance Bernstein earlier this year.

Roohi Siddiqui brings almost 15 years of research experience, having held senior positions at Denny Ellison, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Schroders and Lehman Brothers.

Siddiqui will be supported by new hire Lorraine Grace, with both working alongside the existing teams on consumer stocks.

50 years' experience

Dominic Carver brings seven years industry experience at Julius Baer Portfolio Managers and Principal Investment Management Limited and will cover financial and healthcare stocks.

Mike Field has spent four year at Close Brothers as an investment manager and will now join the team covering energy, material and utility companies.

Finally, Charles Coldicott will begin work on the telecoms, media and technology sectors.

Having posted a positive set of results for the past financial year, chief investment officer Nancy Curtin said the new hires add a combined experience of 50 years of security selection to the existing resource.

"These appointments supplement the research carried out by our sector specialists and investment managers and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to delivering strong performance for clients across the range of our service offerings."
