Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM) has nabbed Rathbones veteran Tim West to become managing director within its high net worth client division.

West (pictured) was a senior investment director at Rathbones for 22 years. At Rathbones, he managed investment portfolios for individuals, trusts and charities, and was a team leader in the firm’s London office. He particularly focused on research in listed private equity and small company funds. He represented the firm on the indices committee for the Wealth Management Association, now known as Pimfa.

CBAM chief executive Martin Andrew welcomed West’s experience in the private client sector and said the hire of top calibre professionals was key to the company’s strategic vision.

The high net worth division was a growing part of the business, Andrew said.

Earlier this month, CBAM announced it had nabbed Sarah Keltie to become senior investment business development director.

In September 2019, CBAM poached Paul Denman from Arbuthnot Latham and appointed him as private client director to support the ongoing growth of its high net worth client proposition.

In August, Alastair Wilson, Philip Young and Lucy Katzarova were all hired to support the expansion of its investment management service for high net worth clients.

In Scotland, Christopher Godfrey-Faussett was appointed from Rathbones to the lead the HNW push.

In January, CBAM poached Andrew Hess from Rathbones to take on the role of managing director of its high net worth business, based in the West End office. This was followed by the appointment of Christopher Godfrey-Faussett, also from Rathbones, as managing director based in Scotland.
