Close Brothers Asset Management has raided Rathbones once again for its high net worth push, recruiting Rob Crawshaw as a managing director.

Crawshaw will join the investment manager’s Mayfair office this autumn.

He had been at Rathbones since 2013, managing a broad range of portfolios for private clients and charities. Prior to that he worked as a senior investment analyst at Brewin Dolphin.

At CBAM he will be reunited with fellow Rathbones vet Tim West (pictured) who joined in 2019 to support the growth of the Mayfair office.

CBAM chief executive Martin Andrew said Crawshaw’s “experience and enthusiasm for excellence” makes him an ideal fit for the firm’s West End outpost which he described as a “vital driver” in boosting assets in the last year. It currently houses 10 investment professionals and six support staff, managing over £1.4bn.

Crawshaw is the latest hire from Rathbones which has been a frequent source of raids for CBAM.

In 2019 it installed Rathbones investment director Andrew Hess as a managing director in its West End office and appointed Christopher Godfrey-Faussett, another Rathbones alum, as managing director based in Scotland.

CBAM hired two more from Rathbones, Helen Gerrard and Nick Jackson, last July.

It has also bulked out its team with hires from Moneyfarm, Arbuthnot Latham and Brewin Dolphin.
