Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM) has poached Paul Denman from Arbuthnot Latham and appointed him as private client director to support the ongoing growth of its high net worth client proposition.
Denman (pictured) joins with over 30 years’ experience, most recently from Arbuthnot Latham where he was a director in the private banking arm for 14 years. While there, he established a family office team, which looked after some of the bank’s wealthiest clients.
Prior to this, he spent seven years as a private banker at SG Hambros and started his career at Coutts & Co in 1985.
Denman is the latest hire following a number of senior hires as part of CBAM’s wider strategy to expand its high net worth capabilities.
In August, Alastair Wilson, Philip Young and Lucy Katzarova were all hired to support the expansion of its investment management service for high net worth clients
In January, CBAM poached Andrew Hess from Rathbones to take on the role of managing director of its high net worth business, based in the West End office. This was followed by the appointment of Christopher Godfrey-Faussett, also from Rathbones, as managing director based in Scotland.
To accommodate the expanding high net worth team, CBAM announced last month that it moved to a larger office in Mayfair at 55 Grosvenor Street.
CBAM chief executive Martin Andrew said: “It is a key strategic goal for us to grow our advice and investment management service for high net worth clients, and hiring the best individuals supports that ambition.
“Paul Denman has immense experience in the industry and a unique ability to develop and grow client relationships. He will be an asset to the team as he works to expand our client-base.”
