Following the acquisition by Standard Life Investments (SLI), a number of high-profile managers exited the firm, including chief executive Chris Samuel in June and last week, global head of distribution Claude Chene.

Bowie was head of credit portfolio management in 2004 and oversaw a team of four, managing the largest life company mandates and also responsible for the retail £244m Ignis Corporate Bond Fund. The fund has consistently outperformed the IMA Sterling Corporate Bond Index, delivering a cumulative performance of 7.2% in the past year, compared to the index of 5.5%, according to FE Analytics.

Timmerman joined the company in 2010 as managing director and CIO. Previously, he was chief investment officer of RBS Asset Management's fund of hedge fund, private equity and long-only multi-manager businesses prior to their acquisition by Aberdeen Asset Managers in February 2010.

“Following discussions about the future structure of the business and available roles, a small number of people have left the business. The vast majority of Ignis people will remain in post on 14th July 2014 and there will be no immediate changes to the products and services provided by Ignis,” a SLI spokesperson said.

SLI currently has 130 jobs and the company confirmed it expected that more vacancies would arise in the future.
