McCarthy will take up her new position on 2 September, joining from the capital markets team from property consultant CBRE where she was executive director. Here she served a variety of clients including pension funds, banks and high net worth investors in acquiring and disposing investment property in Ireland, the UK and Continental Europe.

Prior to joining CBRE in 2003, McCarthy established the property investment team within Bank of Ireland Private Banking, and also served in a variety of roles in property investment at King Sturge (now JonesLangLasSalle) and Hill Samuel Asset Management (now Scottish Widows).

Green REIT, which is listed on both the London and Irish stock exchanges, has a stated strategy to  create a property portfolio consisting primarily of commercial property in Ireland to deliver income and capital growth through opportunistic investments, active property management and prudent use of debt finance.

Pat Gunne, managing director of Green REIT Property Ventures, the company’s investment manager, said: “Following a successful capital raising, our focus now is to identify and acquire assets which match our investment objectives and to create sustainable and longterm value for shareholders of Green REIT.”

This week, Standard Life Investments said it would convert its UK Property Fund into a property authorised investment fund (PAIF) so unitholders can benefit from the more favourable tax terms attached to the vehicles.
