Charles Stanley has announced a number of management changes within its Direct division following the news yesterday that Ben Yearsley has left his role as head of investment research.

The changes, the firm said are part of an effort to better integrate it with the broader group as its importance continues to grow and it moves closer to profitability. Going forward, the firm said in a statement: “the delivery, style and output of research on the Charles Stanley Direct platform will be closer aligned to Charles Stanley Group Research functions.”

According to the group, Mike Lilwall retains his position as head of proposition, but will now be assisted by Magnus Wheatley who has been promoted to the role of managing director of the division, he was previously head of digital marketing and communications.

It added that the Foundation Portfolios and Foundation Fundlists will be managed by Charles Stanley’s collectives research team in London and headed by Stephen Peters, and supported by the considerable experience and talent of the Collectives Research Team.

These changes will help ensure that Charles Stanley Direct has the resource and investment to achieve its potential.”

Marcus Tree has been appointed head of digital operations, with oversight of the dedicated client helpdesk and administration hub in Edinburgh, the firm said, while the Investment Helpdesk in Beverley, Yorkshire and underlying business, Garrison Investment Analysis, will report directly to Lilwall.
