Charles Stanley multi-asset launch targets ‘DIY’ investors

Charles Stanley has launched a range of five multi-asset funds, all risk graded and aimed at ‘DIY investors’.

Using the asset management team’s “best” ideas, the five funds will be globally diversified and invest across shares, bonds as well as other selected funds.

The team will be led by Charles Stanley CIO Jon Cunliffe, who first revealed the early-stage plans for new risk-graded offerings to Portfolio Adviser in April.

At the time, Cunliffe said he hoped the funds would “sit at the heart” of Charles Stanley’s asset management offering.

Christopher Aldous, head of asset management at the firm, said: “We wanted Charles Stanley Asset Management’s best research and asset allocation ideas to be available to everyone, not just large investors.

“The new multi-asset funds pack all this expertise into a straightforward range of risk-profiled funds for any Charles Stanley Direct client to access.”

The five funds will be available on the Charles Stanley Direct platform as the MI Charles Stanley Multi Asset 1 Defensive, MI Charles Stanley Multi Asset 2 Cautious, MI Charles Stanley Multi Asset 3 Moderate, MI Charles Stanley Multi Asset 4 Growth and MI Charles Stanley Multi Asset 5 Adventurous.

Rob Morgan, Charles Stanley pension and investment analyst, said the fund range aimed to offer a diverse option for DIY investor’s portfolios which are often too concentrated in particular markets or asset classes.

“This fund range is designed to help overcome that risk. Charles Stanley discretionary clients have long benefited from their access to our professional analysts’ and investment managers’ market views,” he added.

“These funds extend that expertise to self-directed investors using Charles Stanley Direct, each one offering a diverse portfolio in a single easy-to-buy investment.”
