The trust is now co-managed by Nick McLeod-Clarke and Adam Avigdori who currently look after some £3.4bn in UK equities, including BlackRock’s open-ended UK Income Fund.

BlackRock took on the trust following a period of underperformance with previous manager RCM having run the company since 2008.

McLeod-Clarke said: “We remain very positive about the potential returns that can be achieved from a carefully selected portfolio of UK equities that combine higher yielding stocks with others which have the potential for growth.

“The outlook for the UK stockmarket this year is still promising and we are finding a number of attractively valued companies. The significant amount of cash currently being held on corporate balance sheets is likely to trigger an increase in M&A activity, corporate investment and increased dividends as confidence gradually returns to the global economy.”
