CG Asset Management has promoted Hassan Raza and Emma Moriarty to portfolio manager positions.

Raza will join Peter Spiller, Chris Clothier and Alastair Laing in running the CG Absolute Return and Capital Gearing Portfolio funds, which hold £940m and £288m respectively in assets under management (AUM).

He joined the firm as a investment analyst in 2021 having previously worked in mergers and acquisitions for HSBC and PwC.

Moriarty joined CG Asset Management the following year after eight years as an economist at the Bank of England.

She will now take on management of the £613m Dollar fund and £453m Real Return fund. Moriarty said: “It’s an exciting time to be an investor in global government bond markets, with inflation, interest rates, and broader geopolitical concerns all at the forefront of market participants’ minds.”

She has experience in portfolio management, having steered the UK Index-Linked Bond fund with Chris Clothier since it launched in November last year – the firm’s first launch in seven years.

CEO Alastair Laing added: “Hassan and Emma have earned the respect and admiration of the entire team at CGAM. Not only have they proven their investment capabilities, but they are also great colleagues, adding to the culture as well as the expertise of our firm.”
