Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM) has hired Brown Shipley private client director Paul Spann for its Manchester office.

Spann (pictured) has almost 15 years’ experience within the wealth management industry with the last six of those at Brown Shipley. He has also worked at at Coutts, HSBC Commercial, and HSBC Premier.

At CBAM, Spann will support its HNW client base across the region. He will report into managing director Paul Clements.

He holds an Investment Advice Diploma, a Certificate in Mortgage Advice & Practice and a Certificate for Financial Advisers. He brings with him experience with ultra-high net worth investors, entrepreneurs, and family business owners.

His appointment comes as CBAM expands its Manchester office as part of a refurb designed to make it easier for clients to meet with their advisers in person. There are eight investment professionals and four support staff in the Mosley Street office.

CBAM chief executive Martin Andrew said Spann brings experience and knowledge “at a time when being able to engage with clients in person to discuss their wealth planning needs is becoming increasingly important”.

“In addition to investing in our people and proposition, we have also invested in our footprint, with a new floor in our Manchester office from which our team will be able to provide high quality, personalised advice to HNW individuals across the region,” Andrew said. “Our regional offering remains a strategic imperative to our business and we are delighted to welcome Paul who will be an ideal fit to our team.”
