In Bermuda Churchill was heavily involved in developing the profile of the private banking offering, Butterfield said.
Although the majority of clients were resident in Bermuda, a lot of his focus was on promoting the services in the international business sector, it added.
This is to remain a key area of focus for him in his new role as he continues to promote Butterfield’s onshore and offshore business activities.
Prior to joining Butterfield, Churchill held roles within Insinger de Beaufort, Close Brothers and Rathbone Investment Management and has 13 years’ experience in private banking and asset management.
At the end of January Butterfield confirmed its head of private banking and CIO had both left the firm amid speculation the London office was to undergo a restructure.
The firm refused to comment on "speculation about possible future events or corporate activities", but this latest appointment and its intention to grow the business in the UK would tend to suggest a London closure is not on the cards.
