Brown Shipley has announced its second senior hire in a week with the appointment of Elizabeth Weir as head of London and international.

Weir (pictured) joins from UBS where she was a managing director based in London. At Brown Shipley she will lead the London and international client relationship teams and be responsible for business development at the wealth manager, which is part of the Swiss private bank Quintet Group.

She will report to Calum Brewster, who joins as head of private banking in February.

It follows the appointment last week of Gordon Scott who has joined Brown Shipley from Julius Baer as head of strategic partnerships and entrepreneurs network. It marked the firm’s fourth hire from Julius Baer in the past six months.

Weir has 19 years of wealth management experience. At UBS, she led the development of the bank’s resident non-domiciled offering and created the UBS Next Generation programme in London, an investment education programme for clients’ children.

Brown Shipley chief executive Alan Mathewson, said: “This appointment is the latest in our senior front office hires, which is a real statement of our intent and strategic growth, as we continue to work more closely with colleagues across Quintet to meet the needs of our clients.”

Weir said: “Brown Shipley offers boutique levels of tailored service while retaining access to the broader capabilities of the Quintet group. It offers a powerful and compelling proposition which I feel is unmatched in the current market.”
