Butler-Cassar (pictured) was most recently head of private office at Investec, a role he acquired in 2014 through the acquisition of Williams de Broe. Previous roles he held at the firm included head of corporate development, head of London and senior investment director.
Prior to this, he was a senior relationship manager at Lloyds TSB Private Banking.
In his newly-created role at Brown Shipley, Butler-Cassar will join the firm’s front office leadership team and report to Guy Healey, head of private banking.
Healey said: “Andrew is an experienced senior leader in the wealth management industry with a proven track record for growth, an entrepreneurial spirit and strong strategic development credentials, so I am delighted that he will be joining our team at Brown Shipley.
“This is also another significant hire for the London office, as we look to further build our presence in the South.”
Butler-Cassar will start the role on 8 January.
He said: “I am thoroughly looking forward to leading Brown Shipley’s London office given its ambition and recent trajectory.
“In particular, given the size of the market in London and the South, there are clear opportunities for further growth. Working alongside senior management from across the business, I hope to play an integral role in Brown Shipley’s continued success.”
The announcement comes after Brown Shipley revealed its replacement CEO earlier this month.
