Brown Shipley has raided Barclays Wealth & Investment Management (Barclays W&IM) for nine hires as it looks to bolster its presence in East England.

The DFM, which is owned by Quintet Private Bank, has appointed Simon Smith as managing director to oversee the incoming team, which will be based in Brown Shipley’s offices in Norwich and Cambridge. Smith has 34 years’ experience, most recently as a regional director at Barclays W&IM.

He will be joined by eight client advisers, Kevin Nevard, Paul Marshall, Mark Turner, David Vernon, Luke Caraccio, Warren George, Mark Harrod and James Haynes, who also hail from Barclays’ investment bank.

Brown Shipley CEO Calum Brewster said: “These hires demonstrate our ongoing commitment to investing in talent and our long-term strategy in the East of England. Our new client advisers have extensive wealth management experience and will support our development in the region as we continue to offer exceptional wealth management.”
