Brown Shipley has recruited Barclays Private Bank man Mark Flynn to head up its Scotland office.

Flynn (pictured) will lead the charge on the next stage of Brown Shipley’s strategy in the region when he joins the Quintet Private Bank-owned DFM in June.

Matt Hoyne and Gerard Wilson, executive directors at Brown Shipley in Edinburgh, will continue to lead the client strategy, particularly for ultra-high net worth clients, with a focus on entrepreneurs and business owners.

During Flynn’s 14-year stint at Barclays Private Bank, he oversaw the launch of its Aberdeen office and most recently was head of private banking for Scotland and Northern Ireland, looking after ultra-high net worth individuals, family offices and senior stakeholders, including those with an ESG focus. Prior to this he worked at Adam & Company.

Elizabeth Weir, head of private banking and London, said Scotland is a “strategically important location for Brown Shipley”, which is why the DFM has invested in its hires in recent years.

“Mark’s appointment is a further demonstration of this commitment and allows us to build on our strong foundations in Scotland.”

Flynn added: “I’m pleased to join Brown Shipley at such an exciting time as the business continues to develop across the UK, including here in Scotland. I look forward to working with the team in Scotland and across Quintet to best meet the wealth management needs of private clients.”
