Jason Wood has joined the senior leadership team as chief operating officer after 21 years working at Schroders.

Group finance director Simon Jackson has decided to step down from April next year after 17 years working at the firm.

Andrew Shepherd has been given an expanded role as part of the changes and will now hold the position of managing director of distribution alongside his role as group deputy chief executive.

Caroline Connellan, who took over as chief executive of Brooks Macdonald earlier this year, said: “As previously outlined, we are investing to enhance our capabilities to support our investment teams and to ensure we continue to meet and exceed our clients’ and advisers’ expectations.

“The appointments we have announced today will enable us to build on our success to date and create a stronger platform for delivering future growth while pursuing greater efficiency and progressively improving our margins.”

The staffing shake-up follows confirmation Brooks Macdonald will merge its funds and investment management business.

Two staff have also been recruited to its Cardiff office, which opened in July this year.

Stuart Hutchinson joins from WH Ireland as an investment manager and Ceri Fox joins from Brewin Dolphin as a senior investment management administrator.

The head of the Wales office, Andrew Lewis, said he was delighted to welcome the pair to the team.

“Their wealth of experience and knowledge will help us maintain a high level of client service as we continue to expand,” he said.

“Since opening the office in Wales in July, we have seen strong interest from local financial advisers, underpinned by our proven level of ongoing support and first class investment management.”
