Priti Verma will join Quilter as chief risk officer in the second quarter of this year, leaving her CRO role at Brooks Macdonald after nearly five years.

Verma (pictured) is one of several senior departures to be announced by Brooks Macdonald in the last few weeks, including CFO Ben Thorpe and COO Lynsey Cross. On top of that, Brooks’ head of responsible investment Ben Palmer will leave in March.

At Quilter, Verma will be responsible for the governance and oversight of strategic, operational, and financial risks to the businesses.

She was CRO of Smith and Williamson, now Evelyn Partners, between 2014 and 2018, having moved from her position as head of business risk at Pictet AM. She has also held senior risk management roles at Schroders and Aviva Investors.

Once regulatory approval for the move is secured, Verma will replace Nick Sacre-Hardy, who has been acting CRO of Quilter since Matt Burton stepped back in 2022 due to ill health.

She will report to Quilter CEO Steven Levin, who said: “I am delighted to welcome Priti to Quilter as chief risk officer. She brings vast risk and compliance experience which will be invaluable as we take Quilter to the next stage in its strategy. Priti’s appointment further strengthens our executive management team.

“My thanks go to Matt Burton for an exemplary job as chief risk officer for nearly four years, which included his impactful campaigning against financial scams. I’m very grateful to Nick Sacre-Hardy for his very effective stewardship of the role while we took our time to select the right long-term successor for the role of chief risk officer.”

Verma added: “I am pleased to be joining Quilter and I am looking forward to playing my part in its future success.”
