Brooks Macdonald has promoted Rachael Marsden and Andrew Bennie to head up investment management at the firm’s Leeds and Manchester offices, also appointing Leanne Barnham as global head of marketing.
Marsden (pictured) joined Brooks Macdonald’s Leeds office in 2019 after nearly nine years as an investment manager at Brewin Dolphin. She became a senior investment director in September last year, and has more than 15 years’ experience managing portfolios for advisers, private clients, charities, companies, trusts, and pensions.
Bennie has been a part of Brooks Macdonald for 13 years, managing bespoke investment portfolios for a range of private clients for much of that time. In February last year he was promoted to senior investment director at the firm.
Managing director Robin Eggar, who is head of UK investment management, said: “These appointments reflect the group’s ambitious growth targets and desire to provide outstanding service to our clients and intermediaries. Looking forward, I am excited by the opportunity to continue working closely with Andrew and Rachael to build on our history of success in the Northwest and Yorkshire regions.”
Barnham will shortly be joining Brooks Macdonald in the newly-created position of global head of marketing, where she will be responsible for driving marketing strategy and execution at the firm.
She previously worked at Ninety One where she was head of UK marketing. During her 15 years in industry she has also been global head of marketing with Architas Multi-Manager and an institutional marketing manager at BNY Mellon.
Barnham will report to global head of distribution and marketing Sarah Ackland, who said: “Leanne’s experience and proven industry expertise make her a perfect fit to lead the marketing team as we move into our next phase of growth. I am very much looking forward to working with her to continue to drive forward the firm’s proposition.”
Brooks has witnessed a string of senior departures in recent weeks, including its CFO, COO, head of responsible investment, and head of risk.
Chair Alan Carruthers also resigned earlier in the month after a period of ill health.
