Eighteen months after joining wealth manager Brewin Dolphin, Janet Mui (pictured) has been named head of market analysis.

Mui started her career in Hong Kong as a relationship manager with Citi, before moving to Cazenove Capital Management in 2011 in the role of research executive to the chief investment officer. She joined Brewin Dolphin as investment director in June 2020.

In her new position, Mui has become a member of the asset allocation committee. Her role will include analysing and interpreting the markets and supporting clients by providing original insights and conveying investment strategies.

In addition, she has been tasked with helping to develop and grow Brewin’s relationship with advisers by ‘curating bespoke market insight updates’, the company said.

Having given some 120 televised interviews since joining the firm, Mui’s remit will also include helping to “build brand awareness by increasing her presence as a leading voice in the industry”, said Guy Foster, chief strategist at Brewin.

Performance update

The appointment announcement comes days before the company is due to publish its first quarter update.

Brewin Dolphin closed out last year with 20% higher funds under management at £56.9bn, thanks to strong investment performance that added £7.1bn to the total. The DFM took in its highest gross discretionary fund flows on record of £4.1bn. In particular, it benefited from smaller IFAs outsourcing client portfolios, which accounted for £1bn of net flows into its MPS and Voyager ranges.
