The former Threadneedle head of UK equities resigned last month along with fund manager Blake Hutchins, who also joins Investec and will become the funds’ alternate manager.

The funds will cover a range of market caps and sectors, and will be supported by both Investec’s Quality research team– of which Brazier will serve as co-head alongside Clyde Rossouw – and 4Factor Global Quality research team.

Brazier, who replaces Jonathan Parker, will hope to replicate the methods that propelled Threadneedle’s UK Fund to £2bn worth of assets under management (AUM) and a 63.28% rate of return in four years.

David Aird, managing director of UK Client Group, said: “We are delighted to be re-launching the Investec UK Alpha Fund and its offshore sister fund, the Investec GSF UK Equity Fund, under Simon Brazier’s management.

“The market is crying out for a competitive ‘Core’ UK equity fund and Simon joins us with an outstanding performance track record and loyal investor base.”

Former Threadneedle employees Ben Needham and Anna Farmbrough, both analysts, and product specialist Neil Finlay, also arrive at Investec.
