Bolitho will take the role as head of marketing at SIG less than a year after Feeney left to become CEO of asset management at Old Mutual Long Term Savings, the umbrella group for SIG.
His move also comes shortly after Scott Stevens joined BNY Mellon as head of marketing, from F&C.
BNY Mellon confirmed Bolitho would be departing the firm, but added he would be working there for another couple of months and is yet to be replaced.
A spokesperson for the fund insisted Stevens had joined in a completely different role and there was no cross purposes, but an industry insider suggested otherwise to Portfolio Adviser.
Bolitho, who joined BNY in 2007, did not report directly to Feeney who was formerly head of international distribution at the group, but he worked closely with him in some areas.
Feeney, said: "We are delighted to be able to confirm that Marcus Bolitho is joining SIG in early summer as the new head of marketing. He will be a great addition to the team and brings a wealth of marketing knowledge and experience with him."
