Tuffield took up the role in June 2014 following the departure of the firm’s director of UK wholesale, Scott Goodsir, in January of that year.

BNY Mellon took the decision to split Goodsir’s role into two, giving Tuffield oversight of the discretionary side, while Fergus McCarthy was hired from Investec to head up the advisory side.

According to a BNY Mellon spokesperson, Tuffield has left the firm to pursue “new opportunities” and will not be replaced. Instead, McCarthy will take over sole responsibility.

Tuffield has been with BNY Mellon since July of 2002 when he joined as a business development executive. Before his promotion in July 2014, he also held positions as regional sales manager and discretionary sales manager at the firm.

Prior to joining BNY Mellon, Fergus worked in senior sales roles with Investec Asset Management and Martin Currie. Fergus has spent his career in Financial Services and with Asset Management firms, starting with Jupiter Asset Management in the late 1990’s.
