BNP Paribas names head of emerging market debt

Current head of EM corporates Alaa Bushehri steps up to the role

BNP Paribas Asset Management has promoted Alaa Bushehri to head of emerging market debt.

Bushehri has been head of emerging markets corporates for the last 11 years, and has been at the firm for 20 years overall.

She will be responsible for overseeing BNP Paribas’s EM debt capabilities, which includes local fixed income investment teams across different emerging regions such as Brazil, Indonesia, Poland, and Turkey.

Based in the firm’s London office, she will report to fixed income CIO Olivier de Larouzière.

Commenting on the appointment, Larouzière said: “With her extensive knowledge of the business and her long tenure in the EMD team, Alaa is perfectly placed to further progress our extended emerging markets debt platform, which now includes the local fixed income investment teams across different emerging regions.

“I am confident that Alaa will further embed the sharing of local and global expertise through our single platform, and further strengthen our investment philosophy and processes.”
