Active ETFs are a strategic growth area for the US asset manager

Janus Henderson Investors has nabbed Suzanne Cain from Blackrock to head up its global distribution.

Cain had been global head of institutional clients at Blackrock’s exchange-traded funds (ETF) business iShares, which she joined from Deutsche Bank in 2017.

The funds giant has named active ETFs as a strategic growth area and its ETF AUM surpassed $1bn.

At Janus Henderson she will be responsible for the US firm’s global sales and product strategy for retail and institutional channels. There are more than 600 distribution staff worldwide.

Chief executive Dick Weil said Janus Henderson conducted an “extensive review of high-calibre industry professionals” as part of the recruitment process. He said Cain had a track record of success in product innovation, building product capabilities and leading global sales initiatives.

While Cain is US based, and will be joining Janus Henderson at its offices in Denver, she did a six-year stint in London from 2004 while working with Morgan Stanley, where her last position was managing director and head of credit sales for Europe and the Middle East.

She then moved to Deutsche Bank becoming head of the institutional client group and head of structured credit and structured finance sales for EMEA from 2010 to 2017.

She joins Janus Henderson on 20 May 2019.
