ING Investment Management has announced a change of CEO with the departing Gilbert Van Hassel to be replaced by Stan Beckers.

Formally CIO of Barclays Global Investors’ Alpha Management and European Active Equity Groups, and later managing director and co-head of BlackRock Solutions EMEA, Becker has more than 30 years of global finance and asset management experience.

Van Hassel joined ING in 2007 as CEO of investment management Europe. He assumed the position as CEO of its global investment management businesses in November 2009.

The change has been approved by the Dutch Central Bank and will become effective on 1 July.

ING IM has also hired Jerry Brewin from Aviva Investors as head of emerging market debt in addition to recruiting Marcelo Assalin as lead portfolio manager for local currency.

Elsewhere, Martin Currie has strengthened its investment team with a senior Asian equities hire.
