Ben Gutteridge is leaving Brewin Dolphin after 16 years to head up Invesco’s new model portfolio service, Portfolio Adviser has learned.
Gutteridge (pictured) will join Invesco’s London office in the new year to spearhead the delivery and distribution of the MPS which was launched on Tuesday to the UK wealth marketplace. The MPS costs just £1 for each advised client.
He will report to Invesco head of clients solutions EMEA Mark Humphreys and senior portfolio manager in the investment solutions team Jeff Bennett.
Gutteridge joined Brewin Dolphin in 2003 as a fund analyst before being appointed head of fund research in 2010. In the latter role he oversaw collective investment recommendations across asset classes and played a leading role in the MPS. He also sat on the Brewin Dolphin asset allocation committee.
Humphrys said: “We have been delighted by the reception to our MPS so far, and with Ben’s appointment we look forward to growing and refining it further. As financial services providers, it is essential that we understand the evolving challenges advisers face, and we believe that our market leading MPS helps meet these.”
Brewin Dolphin head of research Guy Foster said: “After so many years and such fun times it will be a great shame to see Ben move on. I would like to reassure listeners to our podcast that we will endeavour to replace his infectious personality.”
Changes at Brewin
Brewin Dolphin told Portfolio Adviser Michael Paul has replaced Gutteridge as head of fund research as part of changes made to its research department over the summer.
Paul has been with Brewin Dolphin as a fund analyst for five years and before that, he was an investment manager at City Asset Management.
Elsewhere, Paul Danis has joined as a multi-asset portfolio strategist to lead asset allocation and investment strategy research.
Danis has worked as a strategist on the sellside, including stints at Lehman Brothers and Nomura, and on the buyside with Credit Suisse Private Bank. He also worked as a global strategist at independent research firm BCA Research. He began his career in 1998, trading interest rate futures and options in the Montreal Exchange before moving into research in 2001.
