Barclays Wealth chief exec Peter Horrell quits

After only a year in his role as chief executive at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, Peter Horrell has left the firm.

Horrell is due to leave at the end of 2014 after 23 years at the firm, Barclays confirmed. It added that it had already begun the search for a successor.
 
Head of personal and corporate banking at Barclays, Ashok Vaswani, commented:
 
“Pete Horrell, CEO of Barclays’ Wealth and Investment Management (W&IM) business has decided to step down from his role and will be leaving Barclays at the end of the year.”
 
"Pete has had an exceptional career at Barclays over the last 23 years, and most recently he has overseen the creation and implementation of W&IM’s strategy, securing investment in the business from Barclays and positioning W&IM for long-term and sustainable growth.”
 
He added: “Pete will continue to lead the business until his successor is appointed and the search is already underway.”
