According to reports, the former head of the UK’s financial regulator has been forced to take time out after he joined Barclays last year.
Sants is expected to return to the bank early in 2014, the Financial Times, reported.
Before taking on the role of head of government and regulatory relations at Barclays, Sants steered the former City watchdog, the Financial Services Authority (FSA), through one of the worst crises seen.
Sants’ friends told the newspaper that having worked with the FSA throughout the downturn and then arriving at Barclays as it recovered from the Libor scandal, he felt that he needed some time off to recuperate.
