Tom Coutts is the head of the firm’s European equity team and a member of the EAFE alpha portfolio construction group. He joined Baillie Gifford in 1999 and spent a number of years in our UK Equity Team before joining the European Equity Team in 2007. In May 2011 he became Head of the European Equity Team.

Meanwhile as director in the clients department, Stuart Dunbar is responsible for relationships with UK financial institutions. He has been with the firm for over ten years. Asian clients are taken care of under David Henderson, in his role as director of the clients department. He has been with the company for over fifteen years.

Two partners will be retiring from their positions in the firm on 30 April. Mick Brewis, head of the North American equity team, and Michael MacPhee, portfolio manager on the global opportunities team and the manager of the Mid Wynd International investment trust will be leaving, after 28 and 25 years with the firm respectively.

“The gradual increase in the size of the partnership matches the firm’s measured growth and reflects the increasing diversity of our client base,” Andrew Telfer, joint senior partner, said.
