Viteva and Ward will support Douglas Brodie, the trust’s lead manager, in trying to achieve its objective. This includes investing for the long term in an actively managed global portfolio of initially immature entrepreneurial companies.
The two investment managers joined Baillie Gifford as graduates in 2012 and are on the Global Discovery team.
They take over from current deputy, John MacDougall, who remains as a key fund manager within Baillie Gifford’s Long Term Global Growth team.
James Budden, director of retail marketing & distribution at Baillie Gifford, said: “These appointments recognise the ongoing contribution that Svetlana and Luke have played in the team managing both Edinburgh Worldwide and the Global Discovery Fund.
“It also reflects the importance that Baillie Gifford places on a team approach to fund management.”
Both Svetlana and Luke Viteva and Ward will be named managers, effective 1 January 2018.
The Edinburgh Investment Trust has returned 149.6% over a five-year period respectively, versus 105.1% for the Global sector, according to FE. Over half of its holdings are in North American equities.
