Aviva Investors has beefed up its product strategy team with two credit-focused hires.

Janus Henderson credit sales specialist Rachel Harris joins the firm as senior credit investment director, while Emily McDonald joins as credit investment director.

Based in London, Harris and McDonald will work closely with Aviva Investor’s credit portfolio managers to support existing products and identify new solutions for clients. Harris will report to Steven Blackie, global head of product strategy, and McDonald will report to Harris.

Harris spent four years at Janus Henderson, working most recently as lead fixed income client portfolio manager for EMEA. During her 20-year career, which began at Credit Suisse in 1998, she has been an active promoter of diversity in the workplace. She has also held roles at RBS and Goldman Sachs.

McDonald has over 15 years’ experience, which includes fixed income sales roles at Lloyds and Credit Suisse, where she covered European and UK clients. She joins Aviva Investors through the firm’s Return to Work Programme, which aims to attract candidates with a background in financial services or asset management back into the workplace after a break of at least two years.

Commenting on the appointments Blackie said: “As we continue to grow our business externally, it is vital that we provide the very best support for our clients. Rachel and Emily’s experience will boost our expertise and help us to better understand and anticipate their needs. I am delighted to welcome them to the firm.”
