Aviva Investors has named Roland Derks as a global high yield portfolio manager.

He joins from Goldman Sachs, where he spent a decade. He also held analyst roles at both Nomura and Deutsche Bank earlier in his career.

At Aviva, Derks will have a particular focus on convertibles and US high yield.

His hire is the latest in a string of appointments to Aviva’s fixed income team, with Fabrice Pellous and Gita Bal joining earlier this year as co-head of high yield and head of fixed income research respectively.

Pellous, who Derks will report to, said: “The high yield market is one that we believe will present significant opportunities over the coming years, and we believe now is the perfect time for us to bolster our expertise in this space.

“The appointment of Roland does this, and we look forward to working with him.”
