Michael Ast has been hired as head of investment at Buckingham Street Capital, the discretionary investment management joint venture set up last year by Aspinalls and Raymond James.

Ast has a career in wealth management which spans 11 years and includes a discretionary investment manager role at London private bank Arbuthnot Latham & Co and recently a position as lead portfolio manager at Barclays Wealth.

The new head of investment revealed he sees “tremendous market opportunity” in Buckingham Street Capital because it “combines cutting edge technology with distinctive portfolio design methodologies.”  

He added: “I am highly-encouraged by the strength of the Aspinalls financial planning team which is absolutely top-tier and is a key factor enabling the combined resources of Buckingham Street Capital and Aspinalls to produce robust and comprehensive investment management solutions for our clients.”

Chief executive of the Aspinalls Group, Matthew Parden, stated that Ast’s wealth management background and years of experience managing discretionary portfolios for private clients “will be invaluable in supporting us in growing our client-focussed business through times of exciting change.”
