OPEC voted to continue its commitment to reducing output by 1.8m barrels a day throughout 2018 rather than increase supply back in May and the impact should not be “underestimated” Robinson added.

Despite currently being underweight in major oil companies in favour of ideas elsewhere, Robinson added an allocation to the offshore market “must be considered” by the end of 2017 and admitted he had already bought into two firms, Borr Drilling and Songa Offshore.

“We are extremely confident the oil space will be a good place for investors to be over the next three to five years,” he said.

Robinson added: “With the dynamics currently in place, we expect to witness significant opportunities as the oil price moves higher.”
