Artemis’s Saacke to exit fund management at the end of June

Long-time global equity manager to exit fund management at the end of June to train as a maths teacher

Artemis global equities fund manager Peter Saacke (pictured) is set to retire from fund management to train as a maths teacher at the end of June.

He has managed the Artemis SmartGARP global equity range for over 20 years.

The asset manager has confirmed Saacke’s co-manager Raheel Altaf will step up to lead manager of the funds.

Altaf joined the firm in 2014 having previously held portfolio manager roles at Fulcrum and Fidelity.

Artemis senior partner Mark Murray said: “Over his long tenure at Artemis, Peter has made many contributions as a fund manager but also in his eight years as our CIO.

“When he steps aside from fund management at the end of June, he will do so with our enduring thanks. We wish him the very best for the next phase of his life.”

According to FE Fundinfo data, the £497m Artemis SmartGARP Global Equity fund has returned 20.1% over the last three years, compared to the IA Global sector average 12.2%.
