Artemis Monthly Distribution, Schroder High Yield Opportunities, Jupiter Absolute Return and Lazard US Concentrated funds were all awarded the accolade on Wednesday.

They were selected due to their potential to offer investors a regular monthly income stream.

Juliet Schooling Latter, director of FundCalibre, said the Artemis fund, which is usually split 60% to bonds and 40% equity, was attractive due to its “highly-active approach to managing allocation” which meant it can respond effectively to market changes.

Previously named the Monthly High Income fund, Schroders’ High Yield Opportunities earnt the elite badge due to the management team’s combination of macroeconomic themes and fundamental research to invest in European high-yield bonds that has pushed the fund’s current yield to 6.32%.

Schooling-Latter said the Jupiter Absolute Return fund made the grade as it could be an “effective diversifier and a good complementary portfolio holding” due to its low historic correlation to other asset classes.

She added: “Manager James Clunie is something of a short-selling specialist and he has managed the fund since September 2013, the same year he joined Jupiter from Scottish Widows, where he ran a similar strategy for four years.”
