From First State, Martin Lau’s Stewart Asian investment team, which includes Richard Jones, Vinay Agarwal and Alistair Thompson, will pool the best ideas from across all their strategies to form the pan-Asian equities portfolio.

The portfolio will include 30 to 40 holdings, including Japanese equities.

A pan-European team from Comgest and clean energy strategy run by Lansdowne Partners’ Per Lekander round out the trust’s collective of investment managers.

Godfrey said the final crop of managers “are all proven and successful investors” who are “passionate about the power of long-term investment to serve clients and society.”

The trust targets an absolute return of 5% plus the rate of CPI over a rolling seven-year period.

Godfrey also confirmed that the fundraising launch will happen in September, not October as previously hinted at.

Thus far, The People’s Trust has raised over £115,900 from circa 2,335 “founders” whom each donated £20 (£10, if under 35 years old) in a Kickstarter style crowdfunding initiative.

The trust will continue to accept donations until 31 July 2017. Additionally, founders will be given a small discount to the offer price at launch.
