He will work alongside Philip Wolstencroft and Peter Saacke to manage three funds run under the firm’s SmartGARP strategies. These include the Capital, European Growth and Global Growth funds.
Prior to joining, Altaf was portfolio manager at Fulcrum Asset Management. Previously he spent nine years at Fidelity International where in his last role he was lead portfolio manager for a range of active and passive systematic equity funds.
“We continue to monitor market developments to ensure that SmartGARP is best placed to add value in the future. So we’re very pleased that Raheel, with his experience and knowledge of quant-based investing, has joined us,” Wolstencroft said.
The £405.8m Capital Fund has performed 14.6% over a one-year period, compared to 9.6% of the IMA UK All Companies index, according to FE Analytics.
The £306.9m European Growth Fund has delivered 17.3% over a one-year period, compared to 13.7% of the IMA Europe excluding UK index.
The £190.9m Global Growth Fund – run by Saacke – has performed 7.3% over one year compared to 4.6% of the IMA Global index.
