Artemis co-founder John Dodd (pictured) will retire at the end of the year after almost 40 years in the industry.

He is currently executive chair and co-manager of the Artemis Alpha investment trust, which announced a proposed merger with Aurora Investment Trust this morning (2 September).

His current responsibilities will be shared among the current senior leadership team.

Dodd was one of the founders of Artemis in 1997. He launched the firm’s UK Smaller Companies fund and managed it for a decade.

Artemis senior partner Mark Murray said that Dodd had played a “huge part” in the growth of the firm since launch.

“John will leave Artemis in a great position to continue to deliver excellent investment performance and service for our clients,” Murray added.

“We would like to thank John for everything he has done during his time at Artemis and wish him the very best for a well-deserved retirement when the time comes.”
