Clay left the firm at the end of September and is currently on gardening leave awaiting his next opportunity.

It is understood that Alessandro Giuli will take Clay’s role as head of UK wholesale. Giuli has been a sales director EMEA – global strategic partners at Amundi since 2011.

Before joining Pioneer in 2012, Clay was sales director, UK financial institutions, at Janus Capital, now Janus Henderson. He has also worked in sales manager roles at Franklin Templeton and Generali International.

The move is one of several departures following the merger of Amundi and Pioneer which was finalised earlier this year.

In July, Pioneer chief executive Giordano Lombardo stood down after 20 years to “explore new opportunities for the next stage of his career”.

In August, Gabriel Altbach, former head of global strategy and marketing at Pioneer, left the firm after 17 years.

According to Altbach’s LinkedIn profile, he is now a “consultant and adviser to the asset and wealth management industries” at Asset Management Insights, a Boston-based firm he founded in September.

Amundi declined to comment.
