Amundi has launched the Quantitative Global Absolute Return Bond strategy, investing across all asset classes within fixed income, with a goal of positive returns regardless of market conditions.
Investments will be made mainly in highly liquid derivatives, while cash is focused on money markets and high-quality short term bonds. Amundi said it will create diversity within the portfolio by focusing on factors such as beta, carry, and momentum, which it believes are not correlated in a long-term view.

The strategy, which classifies as Article 8 under SFDR regulations, will also aim to have an ESG score that is above its investment universe.
Lionel Pigeon, who has been with Amundi for over 13 years, will manage the fund. He has been a portfolio manager for Amundi’s absolute return strategy since 2016.
Amundi has aimed the fund towards investors looking to alleviate risk in their portfolio, or to work alongside a benchmarked fixed income portfolio. The strategy is registered in the UK, Luxembourg, and France, with plans to expand across Europe.
