Allianz Global Investors has launched the Sustainability Insights Engine, a data platform which the firm says simplifies ESG data from different sources into a single readable data set.
The platform computes data from external providers as well as AllianzGI’s own input, before it is processed and then standardised into one data set.
Work started on the platform in 2021 after the firm anticipated the significant growth in ESG data sources. The Sustainability Insights Engine will initially be utilised exclusively by AllianzGI investment professionals.
Matt Christensen, AllianzGI global head of sustainable & impact investment, said: “The world of ESG data is growing in volume and complexity. Asset managers are expected to help clients to show what is the most relevant use of the data specific to asset classes while meeting challenging regulatory demands.
“Allianz Global Investors will utilise its dedicated ESG data set up to shape the most meaningful solutions and in so doing, demystify, inform and guide our clients on the most appropriate methodologies and analytics for targeted outcomes.”
He added: “A strong proprietary data architecture, which embraces change and innovation, will be critical in driving sustainability insights, investment decision making and achieving non-financial outcomes alongside financial returns – the launch of SusIE is a game changer for us.”
