AllianceBernstein has launched two new funds – the AB European Growth Portfolio and the AB Global Growth Portfolio – which will be lead managed by Thorsten Winkelmann.

Winkelmann, who joined the firm alongside his team (pictured) from Allianz Global Investors in January, will work alongside Robert Hofmann, Marcus Morris-Eyton, Darina Valkova and Nicolas Gonçalves to identify high-quality companies with strong structural growth prospects.

Both funds will be managed using the same unconstrained process, which focuses on bottom-up fundamentals. Specifically, the team will look to pinpoint companies with strong pricing power, high barriers to entry and sustainable competitive advantages. The team will choose stocks based on a time horizon of between five and 10 years.

AB European Growth Portfolio will hold between 40 and 60 mid-to-large cap companies at any one time, while AB Global Growth Portfolio will hold between 50 and 80 mid and large caps. They are both classified as Article 8 funds under SFDR.

Manager Winkelmann said: “The team and I are excited to launch these funds at AllianceBernstein. We have a time-tested philosophy and approach. As a team we have spent most of our careers on these strategies and have proven success in these strategies over time.”

He added: “We are benefiting from AB’s extensive resources and global presence, while its collaborative and entrepreneurial multi-boutique structure allows us to carry on working together in the way we always have.”
