The firm’s Emerging Market Multi-Asset (Emma) Strategy will employ an active asset allocation to adjust exposure to asset classes and sectors in changing market conditions – allowing the fund to “capture the return potential of emerging market equities, with lower volatility and meaningful downside protection”.
AllianceBernstein is following the likes of Pimco and Franklin Templeton in launching an EM offering that combines equity and bond holdings.
“Traditional all-equity approaches [to emerging markets] are not best designed to minimise unwanted surprises,” said Morgan Harting, senior portfolio manager and emerging markets multi-asset team leader at Alliance Bernstein.
“Emma will aim to capture these investment opportunities whilst seeking to reduce undesirable volatility and offer an optimal risk/return profile unconstrained by naïve benchmarks or investment instruments.”
