AllianceBernstein has selected current head of equities Chris Hogbin for the new role of global head of investments, while Nelson Yu will take over Hogbin’s position.

Hogbin, who will start his new role with the new year, has spent 18 years at AllianceBernstein. After beginning in 2005 as a senior analyst, Hogbin became director of research for Europe and Asia. He then worked his way to chief operating officer of equities, co-head of equities, and reached his current role as head of equities in 2020.

“I am delighted to be taking on this new role,” said Hogbin. “At AB (AllianceBernstein), we’re fortunate to have seasoned teams, clear philosophies, and rigorous processes across our investment business units. I look forward to bringing these together and leading the team of incredibly experienced professionals. I am excited for what 2024 will hold.”

Hogbin will preside over the public-market business, which includes equity, fixed income, multi-asset and hedge funds, as well as the investment solutions and sciences and ‘responsibility’ team. AllianceBernstein also plans for Hobgin to look after the private alternatives business by the end of the year.

Yu, who has worked for 26 years at AllianceBernstein and holds almost 30 years of industry experience, was previously the CIO of investment sciences. He began in 1997 as a programmer and analyst and became head of equities quantitative research by 2014.

Seth Bernstein, president and CEO of AllianceBernstein, said: “AB’s success depends on our ability to evolve, and we continually aim to ensure that we are well-positioned to meet our clients’ needs and watch for opportunities to drive the firm forward and progress our top talent. The new position will help create a stronger investment organization for our clients.”

AllianceBernstein brought on a team of five portfolio managers from Allianz Global Investors this November.
